Our aim

  • To establish and maintain a position as the leading professional body for business travel management in Southern Africa by promoting best practice and a professional code of ethics. 
  • To raise the profile of professional travel management in Southern Africa, particularly with Travel Suppliers, as well as national and regional bodies.
  • To ensure the views of ITMSA members are represented effectively at the highest levels and the Institute is acknowledged as the voice of the business travel buyer.
  • To promote dialogue between parties involved in business travel management.

Our goals

 

  • Provide the best possible support, information and opportunities to enable members to achieve best practice in managing their travel spend effectively and to maximise their contribution to the profitability of their organisation. 
  • Promotes awareness that efficient and effective travel management needs not only good planning and negotiating skills but also through a keen knowledge of current trends and products available in the inter-related sectors of air, ground transportation, technology and hotel accommodation.
  • Encourage dialogue and open debate between all parties involved in the supply and purchase of business travel services. The ITMSA anticipates contributing to consultative groups involving, but not limited to airlines, hotel groups, Travel Management Companies and ground transport providers.
  • Consult with and where applicable influence government / parastatal policies; educational establishments; the travel trade and business organisations in all sectors.
  • Provide members with meaningful and effective networking opportunities.
  • Commission local research into crucial topical matters, liaising closely with leading academic institutions.
  • Encourage and co-operate in the institution and development of training in Travel Management and related subjects in colleges and universities
