ITMSA Duty of Care Forum - February 2010
According to a recent white paper on duty of care released by International SOS, more than 3.5 million international trips were taken by employees in 2008,
a quarter of which were to high or extreme risk destinations.
Corporates are responsible for the health, safety and security of their international travelers and assignees.
How do they meet their duty of care obligations?
- The challenge is to understand how departmental responsibilities – such as travel, legal, risk, insurance, procurement, business continuity, occupational health and HR – fit together in order to fulfil duty of care obligations. Duty of Care and Traveller Risk impacts directly on travel policies.
Dr Lisbeth Claus Ph.D., SPHR, GPHR, Professor of Global Human Resources at the Atkinson Graduate School of Management at Willamette University will be speaking at the ITMSA forum on 16 February in Cape Town and on 18 February in Johannesburg. Dr Claus has been published widely in academic and professional journals on subject matters related to global HR management issues. She frequently delivers multi-day seminars in North America, Europe and Asia.
